Why
Live at the Truman House?
Because
we offer stylish, affordable apartment living in a GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD!
The
Truman House is a four-story condominium with 28 studio and one
bedroom apartments. Formerly one of the city's first Co-ops, The Truman
House was built in the 1920s and was owned by its residents until 2003.
It was completely renovated in early 2005.
Apartments
are separately metered for electric and gas usage. The building has central
heating and hot water services. Each unit has an air conditioner, refrigerator,
and oven/stove. Residents pay for their own phone, gas and electrical
utilities. There are 20 rental storage units on-site as well as 4 parking
spaces available for rent by the month. There are laundry facilities on
each floor.
The
DuPont East/Logan Circle Neighborhood
The
surrounding neighborhood is located in the triangle whose points are the
Logan, Scott, and Thomas Circles. In rental literature the area is often
referred to as DuPont East/Logan Circle. The triangle is bounded by Rhode
Island Ave. to the North, Vermont Ave. to the East, 16th Street to the
West, and Massachusetts Ave. to the South. The Metro’s Blue/Orange Line
McPherson Square stop is 4 blocks to the South and the Metro's Red Line is just 4 blocks West. Several metrobus lines
run along the 14th street corridor, a major North/West vehicular artery
one half block from the Truman House.
The
Truman House apartments are minutes to everything that DC has to offer.
The Pentagon, State Department, Capitol Hill, White House, Johns Hopkins
School of Advanced International Studies, Howard University, and George
Washington University and hospital are all less than 30 minutes by foot
and/or 15 minutes by metro. Most of the city's embassies are within a
20 minute (or less) walk and most of the city's major think tanks are
less than a 15 minute walk. We are a leisurely 15-minute walk from the
White House and the National Mall.
This
neighborhood is currently undergoing a very rapid transformation. Both
the well-established DuPont and newly redeveloping Logan Circle neighborhoods
are highly desirable, and some of the largest and most elegant Victorian
homes in Washington are located less than 2 blocks from The Truman. Several
Condos, Apartments, and Lofts are being built in the neighborhood.
Other
neighborhoods conveniently located within 8 blocks are the revitalized
U Street entertainment corridor (seven blocks North), Chinatown &
MCI Center (eight blocks to the Southeast), the Shaw District and new
$880 million Convention center (six blocks East), DuPont Circle (four
blocks West), and the downtown Business Improvement District known as
the Golden Triangle (1 block South). Over the past five years, the area
has undergone a wholesale transformation into a professional, young, upwardly
mobile enclave. Several local boutique furniture stores, cafes, shops,
stores, clubs and restaurants have opened in the past few years. The Source
Theatre is a leading non-profit theatre located two and a half blocks
away on 14th street. Recently, Whole Foods Market, a premium-quality full-service
supermarket opened two blocks away. Starbucks and Caribou Coffee shops
are each within 2 blocks.
Although
a newly renovated building, the Truman still offers the most affordable
rental rates in this dynamic and central neighborhood.
